It’s almost as if the island of Mallorca was created especially for families! One of the great things about Mallorca (or Majorca) is that with so many years of welcoming holidaymaking families, the island is so incredibly child friendly.
Take the golden beaches that are so numerous on the island. Which child doesn’t absolutely love to splash about in the clear blue water and make sand castles? And how about the pleasure of taking out a pedalo, one of those lovely pedal boats. Just perfect for a relaxing time bobbing up and down on the gentle waves of the Med.
More adventurous older children may wish to take a scuba diving lesson. These are very popular, and with highly qualified multi-lingual instructors, you don’t have to worry about your child’s safety.
Away from the beach you might like to treat the kiddies to a fun day at a water park. There are a wide variety of water parks to choose from in Mallorca; Marineland in Portals and Aqua Land in Arenal to name just two. Here the little ones can enjoy such things as the crazy antics of dolphins, divers who dive into shallow pools of water from a great height, spectacular displays of reptiles, birds and sea life, and of course a fantastic range of pools, slides and chutes.
“Mallorca is one of the best family friendly destinations on the globe, with something to suit everyone, it’s more a case of ‘What shall we do first’, than merely ‘What shall we do’.”
How many people can say they’ve been in a submarine? If you’re looking for something really sensational – for grown ups as well as little ones – you could choose to explore the depths of the Mediterranean in the spectacular Submarine Nemo. With its large portholes affording a view of the rich marine life, this is one voyage you will remember for the rest of your life.
There’s nothing better to ensure that the children sleep soundly at night than to encourage them to take part in a range of active daytime pursuits. In Mallorca, these can include go-carting, cycling, sailing, surfing, horse riding, tennis and many more.
Or how about a family visit to one of Mallorca’s splendid reservas? Giraffes, antelopes, elephants, camels, ostriches…they’re all here to be seen on this magical island.
When the sun gets really hot, consider treating the children to a fascinating underground expedition. Mallorca is literally blessed with a series of stunning underground caves and grottos where the whole family can gaze in awe at spectacular giant stalactites and stalagmites. The tours are guided and highly educational.
As a genuinely friendly tourist destination, one of the most popular family holiday pastimes in Mallorca is the guided day trip. And what a choice! Visit the beautiful town of Soller via its famous vintage train, relax on a leisurely boat trip (why not try one of the ever-popular glass-bottomed boats?), explore medieval castles, nature reserves, museums, art galleries…you really are spoilt for choice.
With so much to see, do and enjoy it’s little wonder that Mallorca is for many the number one family holiday destination in Europe.
