Things to do in Valldemossa

• The Charterhouse (Real Cartuja): the former monastery where Chopin and George Sand spent the winter of 1838, with its cloisters, pharmacy and gardens. Read our guide to visiting monasteries on Mallorca.
• Santa Catalina Thomàs: Mallorca’s patron saint was born in Valldemossa, and many houses display painted tiles asking for her protection.
• Coca de patata: try the village’s famous potato bun, best with a hot chocolate in one of the cafés on the main street.
• Port de Valldemossa: a winding road leads down to a small pebble cove with a seafood restaurant.
• The coast road: the drive to Deia, around 10 km away, passes viewpoints over the cliffs and the Archduke Ludwig Salvator’s former estates.

Getting to Valldemossa

Valldemossa is about 30 km from Palma airport, around 30 minutes by car. It is one of the closest mountain villages to the airport, which makes it easy for short breaks.

Is there a beach near Valldemossa?

The small cove at Port de Valldemossa is 20 minutes away by car. For sandy beaches, the coast west of Palma is around 30 minutes away.

Is Valldemossa good for walking?
