We will ensure these selected villas provide the appropriate facilities including at least 2 bowls and 2 pet beds or baskets with blankets – although they probably won’t need it in the height of Mallorca’s summer! Tips for a holiday in Mallorca with your dog
- Documents: dogs travelling from another EU country need an EU pet passport, a microchip and a valid rabies vaccination. From the UK you need an animal health certificate issued by your vet shortly before travel. Check the latest rules with your vet before booking flights.
- Getting here: some airlines carry small dogs in the cabin and larger dogs in the hold, and the ferries from mainland Spain to Palma and Alcudia accept pets, with pet-friendly cabins on some routes.
- Beaches: during the bathing season most beaches do not allow dogs, so use the designated dog beaches, such as Llenaire in the bay of Pollensa. Rules vary by town and season.
- Heat: in July and August walk your dog early in the morning or in the evening, and avoid hot sand and pavements in the middle of the day.
- Pine processionary caterpillars: from late winter to spring, keep dogs away from the lines of caterpillars that come down from pine trees. They are dangerous for dogs, and any contact needs a vet straight away.
- Vets: every main town has a veterinary clinic, and our local team can point you to the nearest one.
