Where to go shopping in Mallorca

Perhaps the best-known destination for shopping in Mallorca is the capital of Palma.

The pedestrian layout of the town makes it ideal to wonder around and discover the many designer stores and boutiques on foot. Avinguda Jaume III is the main shopping area of the town, and although relatively new, this avenue is home to a number of upmarket boutiques along with plenty of cafes and restaurants for relaxing in between shops. A large department store, C&A, lies to the foot of this avenue, and is a great place to stock up on clothing for the whole family.

Palma is also home to lots of narrow atmospheric alleyways, which are packed with unique shops. And for those who like everything in one place, there is El Cort des Ingles, which houses concessions for every conceivable taste and budget, as well as a supermarket.

Aside from Palma, there are a number of other places to indulge in some holiday retail therapy. If you’re looking for upscale shopping in Mallorca, head to Port D’Andratx. The island’s answer to the French Riviera, this port is home to a number of designer shops and boutiques. If you are renting a holiday villa in Pollensa, make sure to pay the market a visit, or try rummaging around the Old Town to score a local bargain. There are a number of gift shops and small boutiques here, as well as in the Old Town of nearby Alcudia.

For those looking for a more modern option, there is Festival Park. This large retail park is easily reached by the motorway, and as well as many branded shops, also features a cinema, go-karting, and a small fair and play area for the children. It is relatively quiet in the daytime, with most of the locals opting to enjoy the many dining options in the cooler evenings.
