Golf In Mallorca – an enthusiasts paradise

Published in Activities

When it comes to golf in Mallorca, there’s plenty on offer across the Spanish isle.

Whether you’re a long-time lover of the game or are simply looking for a way to unwind on holiday, there are Mallorca golf courses aplenty in some of the most beautiful regions of the island.

There are over 23 Mallorca golf courses in total, many of which provide stunning views of the Mediterranean as you play your round. At Balearic Villas, we have many villa rentals near to these courses, providing quick and easy access to some of the most picturesque golf courses in Europe.

Where to golf in Mallorca

No matter which part of Mallorca you rent your holiday villa, you’ll never be far from a golf course. There are a number of beautifully designed courses scattered around the island from which to choose:

North

Alcanada and Pollensa are the two primary golf courses in north Mallorca. Although Pollensa is only a 9-hole course, it is one of the most pleasant, having undergone a renovation helmed by renowned golf course architect Michael Pinner in 2000. The Alcanada Golf Course is situated in Alcudia, and was named the best golf course on the island in 2012 by Simply Mallorca Golf.

South

Vall d’Or is located to the south of the island, and is one of the most visually stunning golf courses in Mallorca. Pine trees, well-kept greens and majestic ocean views make this 18-hole course a joy to play, and guests can unwind in the on-site bar and restaurant after a round for some well-earned refreshment.

East

The northeast tip of Mallorca is home to a number of world-class courses, such as Canyamel, Son Severa and Pula Golf to name a few. The latter has undergone an extensive redesign within the past ten years, resulting in a demanding yet enjoyable course layout. The courses are all close to the coast, and only a short driving distance for those staying in the centre of Mallorca.

West

Home to the highest number of golf courses in Mallorca, the west coast has plenty to offer enthusiasts of every handicap. The world-renowned Golf de Andratx is popular with tourists (having been designed by the same architect responsible for Gleneagles, David Kidd), while Santa Ponsa and Poniente also see tee times book up quickly. These and other western golf courses can be easily accessed from nearby Palma de Mallorca.

Mallorca is a haven for golf lovers of any skill level, and the variety of courses available reflects this. Many of our villas are just a short drive away from these and other popular courses, making them a great choice for those who yearn for the ultimate golf getaway. And what’s more, with over 300 days of sunshine a year, Mallorca offers plenty in the way of sea and sun for whenever you’re finished on the fairways.
